Hi All,
I have been lurking for awhile now and have gotten TONS of helpful information thus far, so I decided to bite the bullet and come out of hiding
I am new to chickens and frankly, I never really liked them! I have been wanting my own eggs for a few years now, so in March I finally decided to just get some chicks and roll with it! I started with 6 Red Star chicks and as chicken math would have it, that has quickly become 13 pullets and 1 cockerel! My Red Stars are wonderful girls and I couldn't be happier with them.. they are about 12 weeks old now. I also have 3 Black Stars that are approximately 8 weeks, as well as 2 Barred Rocks, 1 Buff Brahma, 1 Lavender Orpington and 1 Golden Campine (my roo), who are all about 10 weeks.
I have enjoyed introducing all my "kids" to living outdoors full time. They free range during the day and are shut in at night.
I live in central North Carolina with my husband, 12 dogs and 14 chickens!
