Hi! I've been lurking for several months and decided it's time to actually join. I recently moved from the big city of Sacramento to a rural very small city of Sonora (near Yosemite). The house we rented came with four grown hens, and I have no idea of what I'm doing, but I'm happy to have the chickens!

So far so good...I get 1-3 eggs a day and all four hens are reasonably socialized and seem very healthy.

Glad you joined us!

Hi Sue, Welcome! I'm new, too. Also in NoCal. Just recently adopted two chicks that hatched in my daughter's classroom, and they both turned out to be roos. Doh! As soon as I rehome them, I'll be looking for some laying hens. What kind are yours?

Hi Sue! There are some dedicated threads for California chicken folks. California - Northern is very active. CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread is also good and has a list on the first page of other local areas. Lots of really nice people with ideas and experiences to share. Sometimes it's nice to meet people nearby who share a similar climate.

A few hens and their eggs is an awesome rental perk! Lucky you!

Best wishes,
Lynda
