Hello all!!! I currently have 2 rouens, 2 mallards, and 5 chickens. Only 1 rooster & 2 drakes. I'm new to birds so I can use a lot of advice.

Everything was going well, we were getting up to 6 eggs a day then a month ago a drake died. He showed no signs that he was sick. Then last week my pekin was looking sick. She was using her wings to balance not eating much and losing feathers. I put her in a pet carrier with food & water and she was getting better but yesterday she was looking bad agIn then this morning she was dead. Some links have suggested worms. Any other thoughts? I don't want to lose anyone.

Thank you

Sorry about your birds. Worms are always a possibility with any poultry. Over time the worms drain the life out of the bird and eventually they die. I am not sure what your bird died of or what might be wrong with this one. You might post this question in the duck section or even our emergency section. I hope someone can help you solve this mystery.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! X3 on try posting in the Emergencies forum. sorry about your losses, hope you are able to figure out what is going on.

Have you ever wormed them or checked thoroughly for mites? Either and certainly both at a time, can bring birds down fast.

Can't rule out some infectious disease either. Please post on the emergencies thread in as much detail as possible.

No new birds added. Just melting snow and lots of damp areas. I'm thinking I should deworm.
