New From Ohio

Hi! I'm Jenny and I'm from Ohio (southeastern-- I can see west virginia from my house). I am a mama to three (ages 4 1/2, 2 3/4, and 10months). My hubby just got on board with the chickens! I've wanted chickens for YEARS, and he finally said yes! We live in city limits, but have about a 1/4 acre backyard, that is completely fenced in by a 6ft tall privacy fence. Hubby is almost done with the coop/henhouse. We will be letting the chickens free-range in our backyard during the day, and then put them in the coop at night.
I have read and researched and talked to friends with chickens over the past few years, so I feel ready to jump in! I am ordering the chicks today and getting my brooder set up (already have heat lamps, brooder box... but need to go get pine shavings, feeder, and feed (and water bottles...)...
Anyway, I'm super excited to have found this forum! How awesome! Now all my time will be spent here... lol...

Great ages on the kids, as they grow, I hope you can get them involved in your new addiction, er, hobby, yeah, hobby.

My youngest has become a "egg" snob, educating her friends on low-down of the "stale" store-bought eggs.
