Hello everyone

we are new to raising chickens. we started with 2 from when we hatched eggs at school this year. We thought they were both hens. Well at 5:40 this AM we heard what sound like a Rooster - and low and behold our Cabela who we thought was a Hen is not. Unfortunately where we live we are only permitted to have up to 6 HENs.. No Roosters - so this surprise not only caught us off guard.. but it also has us looking for a new home for a very beautiful Rhoade Island Red.

Let me know if you know where I might find him a good home.

Today has been a "rooster" day with everyone bemoaning the fact of discovering their pullets are boys instead. Sadly it's a fact of life. There are sex link chicks available - fairly failproof, where the babies will be a certain color when they are born if they are females or males -. Takes a lot of anxiety out of the equation
