New from Pisgah Forest NC

G’Day from down under Kitcatrn :frow Welcome!

If you have not yet decided on a breed, this article may be helpful: Pickin a Chicken

You might also be interested in downloading this free e-book My First Year With Chickens

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week articles which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
Thank you so much for the other resources!!! Gonna read all I can and “Pick a chicken” In April if possible. Thanks again

welcome to BYC, I went to school in Greensborow at Guilford College many moons ago and hiked and camped in the Linville gorge in Pisgah. my favorite spot was the tower of babble, perhaps you know it? there is a cave like structure that me and some college buddies took refuge in one night during heavy rain.

as for meat birds, if you are interested, check out my thread in my signature below, you can cut and paste the address into the browser. I raise about 75 birds a year to feed by family of four, in addition to our 6 layers. I plan on getting into bees once I am done with the big yard and house projects.
