I am brand new to chickens, or in my case quail. This week we are building the coop and gathering supplies before eggs get here.

None so far, I am planning to keep 4-6 corturnix hens.

Soon to be corturnix quail

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

I have always been involved in animal husbandry and veterinary and have for years wanted to live more self sufficiently. We are not able to keep full chicken s but we are able to keep quail.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Hiking, backpacking, camping

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

We also have a dog and a cat.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I have just recently found this community while researching people's experience with quail. There are a lot of valuable experiences people share here.
