Hi. I live in Sheboygan, WI and inherited our 4 hens when we bought our house last year. I'm not sure their breed, but they are the friendliest chickens I've ever known! They like to follow me around when I let them out of their enclosure and come running/half flying when I call "chick-chick-chick". They are so entertaining and I have loved having them. Each has such a unique personality. My kids helped name 2 of them...Hennifer and Eggster-- chicken versions of Jennifer and Esther. I thought that was pretty cute. The other 2 were named Squawkbox (because she never shuts up once she sees me!) and Curious Georgia (because she was always the first to do or investigate anything).
Unfortunately, I found Georgia dead this morning when I went out to them. She started a bad habit a little while ago...eating the cardboard on the walls meant to keep out the drafts. I am guessing that she got sick from that. But it came so quickly! She was acting completely normal the day before.
I have since removed the cardboard because I don't want to take any chances with the other girls.
