Isabella and Goldie are our only pets. We got the chicks for the kids to raise, thougt it would be a great experience for them.
I'm a stay at home mom. We live in Yorba Linda, which is a city in Orange County that embraces raising of animals.

Hi, there. I joined minutes after you did. This is such a great resource! When I was picking up heartworm meds at the vet I was talking to a woman who had chickens before she downsized. She said she loves BYC and still reads the forums. LOL... I guess I'm hooked too!

Good luck, and enjoy your chickens!

We started out with the intention of having egg only birds, until I read around more at the meatie section of BYC and I have an order of meat birds coming next week. I suppose the idea was to save money, but in reality it'll probably cost me a little more than the chicken from the store. I think the novelty of it is tasting what REAL chicken is like!

I know what you're saying about saving money though. I've become a coupon-a-holic and am always looking for a "good deal."
