New from Southeast Kansas

Hi Y'all,

My name is Tammie and I haven't owned any of my own chickens ever. When I was a teen we raised 100 or so chickens every year to fill the freezer and that was it so its been almost 40 years since I've had any.

My husband and I have been talking about it for the past 4 years, finally got moved into our "new" old place with lots of room and last weekend we put a couple dozen eggs in our incubator. He raised chickens as a young boy all the time so I feel pretty good about that.

For now we just want to get started on a group for at home for the eggs and socialness of raising chickens. Our eggs are barred rock and RIR and were hoping for a good hatch percentage. I moved the thermometer for the pic and the sponge isn't in this one either. This was Day 1.

Glad to be here. We've been reading about chickens for years and all over this site looking at all the posts whenever we had a question about one thing or another to see what all the members had to say. Both of us love BC.
