Hello, My name is Bob from N.E. Indiana and I plan on raising some meat birds this year for the first time. I have 10 1/2 acres and unfortunately a lot of coyote and red fox. hopefully I can get thru this first year ok.

Hi Bob! Welcome to BYC!

We have a lot of coyotes and foxes too. Not a huge problem if you keep your birds in a secure pen, with a sturdy coop for them to sleep in.

I lost a lot of birds when I used to let them free range. Wretched canines! They would come right into the yard in the middle of the day. And look at me! And then my husband would shoot them, and I'd think we were safe.... And then it would happen again.

Suffice it to say, the birds stay in their nice fenced in enclosures now.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your meat birds, but not too much, or you won't be able to eat them!

Keep them locked up if you want to eat them... or someone or something else will.

from SW Indiana! Lots of coyote here too and haven't had any problems with them if your not free ranging.
