Would love to, but we have to expand the lot this weekend just for the chicks we have added.. We are running out of chicken room.. (ok, well there are 5 acres over the hill yet to be fenced..) BUT, we have to many coyotes and dogs to let them range without fencing.. Lost one rooster that way and have another that is currently bald, but healing..

We have 20 hens, 2 roosters, 6 young hens, (about 8 weeks old) and 4 who knows in the brooder, and the 3 that hatched yesterday in another of our basement brooders.. and duck eggs in the bator..

Chickens are quite addictive.. and now this whole incubating thing..

You should be able to start to tell in 4 weeks. Usually pullets will feather out faster than roos, so that could be an early way to tell.

Hi, and thanks, well the 3 hatchlings started feathering on their wings by the day after they hatched, they will be a week old tomorrow and their wings are quite feathery..

I am trying to upload some pictures now so maybe I can figure out how to post them here. The other "feather footers" will be 3 weeks old on Friday.. Hopefully we will know soon..

This forum is great there is so much helpful information.. I feel blessed to have found this place... Thanks everyone for the warm welcome..
