Central Texas
Hi new here and kind of new to chickens. My grandfather always had chickens and my husband and I raised a few chicks here and there over the years but selling them once they grew. Now that we live on 12 acres we have "gotten into chickens". Other than chickens household members include me, my husband, 3 children along with dogs, cats and various pets.

I am new from Texas also, just joined last night. I have owned and raised chickens for many years just new to poultry forums

What part of Texas are you from and what kind of chickens do you have ?

I live in a small town called Lometa in central Texas. I noticed you are from Stephenville- I have a cousin who lives there(well really she lives in Morgan Mill). I used to hand feed and sell parrots and was on a parrot forum then, but this is my first poultry forum.

As for chickens :
Right now we have several different breeds. We are still in the trial stages of seeing what breed/breeds we like the best and what we would like to breed and keep. I think we have determined we want to keep and breed our blue laced red wyandottes. I love bantams but we don't have many places to get chicks in our immediate vicinity. I have some young bantam Cochins that I like so far. I would like to own a few d'uccles and/or Dutch bantams also.

LOL it sure is a small world nice to meet Gidgets cousin
