Good to be here. I was raised around the "farm" culture. Chickens included. Now married 37years and we decided to get some. Started with 12 RIR's. We lost 3, then a friend gave us 2 younger RIR's. We keep them separate for now. The 2 younger ones are escape artists.

Welcome! It is a great place to find lots of info...even if you grew up with it. I got my first chickens 38 years ago and I find that I am mostly re-learning on here with all the new/great advice and ideas. Hope you enjoy BYC as much as I do!
What part of Texas? I am in North Texas south of Dallas. I have found there are LOTS of Texas folks here. Enjoy!

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

I'm glad you are getting back into chickens! RIRs are great and lay tons of eggs. Good luck with them

And yes, sometimes they are very good at escaping which is very annoying.

West Texas here, south of Lubbock. Older girls are quite friendly, evil twins, "escapees" not so much. I'll do pictures when I figure it out.
