I think you will not want them in the basement past 4 weeks, they get incredibly big fast! But at 5 weeks most do remarkably well, that is the age ours went to their big girl coop, ran an extension cord to coop for a week for a heat lamp, then they were great in April in Ohio -- secure that light to prevent fire!! Welcome
