New from the south

Newbie starting with 27 hens and a rooster (well, actually, 21 hens now thanks to a predator probably a fox) and still modifying my coop. Have a 25 x 50 run and the coop is from fence sections and a metal roof.

Looking for the first eggs to arrive. The hens were born in the middle of March 2015.

Any suggestions and prayers welcomed. Glad to part of such a large site devoted to chickens.

Glad you could join the flock! I'm sorry to hear you have lost some of your hens to a predator. I've suffered an attack my self and it sure can be devastating. I hope you are able to get your coop and run nice and secure so you don't lose anymore. You should be seeing your first eggs soon. Having them a good quality food amd plenty of fresh water and you should see them soon. Also nice nesting boxes should I but them in more to start laying. Adding a golf ball or fake egg in the boxes can help too.
