Hello,
I have lurked here for years and finally decided to join.
We have about 44 laying hens right now, mostly RIR, but also some Wyandottes and Orpingtons with a few d'uccles thrown in for live incubators.
We live on a farm with cattle, sheep, bees, Italian maremma (our wonderful guardians), and we garden year round.
I'm wanting to return to a line of Heritage RIRs... my great grandfather raised them in the 30's in IL and I have always wanted to raise a heritage line and finally have the space to do it now.
I've researched the heritage lines for several years and still feel no more confident in the decision as to which line to go with, so I thought I'd join and ask a few questions.

Welcome

Whats an Italian Maremma?

They are livestock guardian dogs. We have heavy predation here and they guard my lambs and chickens. Can't imagine farm life without them
