Hi All,
I am the proud owner (mother) of 50 1 week old chicks from Meyer Hatchery. I'm not sure exactly what I have yet, I suspect 3-4 Sussex, 4 or more Polish and who knows? I have never had chickens before, but my recent marriage has brought me to a farmer who has raised chickens many times.
When I'm not staring at the little ones, I am working as a network administrator about an hour from home. I also have the aforementioned husband, dog and 2 cats to look after. I also have 3 grown children who are out on their own (hence the additions to the family?) LOL! When ever a child left home I had to add a new one!
I also enjoy the farm life, although I feel like "Mrs. Douglas" at times in my ignorance of thing farm-like. I play french horn in a band, and tinker with guitar and mandolin a bit.
I found the backyard chickens site while thinking about my coming chicks, and I have enjoyed reading the forum and spending time in the learning center. So far the kiddies are doing fine.
Glad to have the chance to meet you all!
