Hi, I'm new to BYC and 6 months in on chicken raising. I have 2 cuckoo maran pullets that I have raised since they were one day old, 1 7 month golden laced wyandotte, 1 6 month true ameraucana and 2 4 month silver laced wyandottes. I love all my girls, and I never knew chickens had so much personality!I'm making a chicken playground with tires spraypainted bright colors filled with dirt, a chicken swing hung from a tree, a roost from stumps. They have a chicken trail running from their coop to a grassy (or used to be grassy) area until the playground has grass, then when all the grass is gone there, I will switch them back to the other area.

You have a lovely flock! It would be fun to see a photo of your playground...I bet the chickens enjoy all of it.

If you have any questions or just want to share stories & pictures, just make yourself at home here.

Thanks for joining us!

Glad you joined the BYC flock. The playground sounds like a lot of fun to watch - too bad no chicken cam. We could see which ones are true athletes.

Thanks for the welcome! My most athletic chicken is my Ameraucana, Jody, who runs through the chunnel to the open grassy area, flies to the end, then turns around and runs back to start all over again. She is so funny to watch! She is thin but healthy, she just loves to run. The playground isn't open yet, I'm still waiting for grass and I have to figure out a way to rig netting. We have osprey, eagles, vultures and hawks in the area. The osprey are the most interested.

Thanks for all the welcomes! I have already found so many helpful threads here for issues I've had with the ladies. I hope to learn a lot more!
