Ok, I brought up chickens to the wife and at first she said no...more because she's such an animal lover that she couldn't bare to have one killed by a raccoon. I asked, what if I could guarantee that no animal can get into the coop. She was fine with that. I know she would get very attached to them, she's a hardcore animal lover.
So, I'm thinking that I might not be able to go with a moveable coop since I'd probably have to do some digging and fortifying, etc.
I have two choices for where to put it...
I can put it inside the fence where it is fairly shaded but would get enough sun and if I wanted it to be mobile it would have to be inside the fence. It would also probably be more easily accessable.
Or I can put it right outside of my fence where I would actually have more room for the runner, but right outside of my fence is a wooded area where all of the predators live. It's also very shaded and the only sun would be later in the evening between the picket fence posts.
Either way, I think I'll get her some chicks for her birthday in a few weeks and I'll have some time to build the coop by the time they're big enough.
