New from Western NY

Hi, my name is Carli and I live in Western NY (between Erie and Buffalo). We are new to chickens, we ordered our first batch of baby chicks in April. We ended up with 11 hens (3 barred rocks, 3 buff orpintons, 3 rhode islands and 2 black australorps) and 3 roosters (black australorps). We are slowly working on creating our homestead and with all the events this year, we decided it was time to start raising our own birds for eggs. In my free time, I homeschool my 2 kids (9 &11), am a dabbling herbalist and have a small business making herbal salves, lip balms and other products, and work part time at a gluten free bakery. I found BYC a few months ago as I have searched for info and answers to questions about raising our birds.
