Of the five most beautiful, and smart, cinnamon queens. Seriously, I think they could win competitions. Technically, they are my mothers, but I seem to be the one who worriedly freaks out every time the wind blows a feather astray. We have had them since they were 2 days old (I haven’t eaten chicken since) and they just turned 3 months. My mother has always said she wanted chickens like her grandmother and when she retired I decided why the heck not.
We live in the Atlanta suburbs and fortunately her dog has adopted them, too. We converted a wooden dog house into their coop and attached a metal run. Spared no expense in hardware cloth to keep the babies safe. My favorite sound now is the beautiful purring (trilling) whenever they’re content.
This site has been amazing for ensuring they had adequate run and coop space, ventilation from hot GA summers, predator proofing, care, and is my first search for anything pecker related. I cannot express my appreciation for the plethora of knowledge.
My mom is looking forward to having some eggs soon but honestly, I’m in it for the pecks.
