New gal on the farm

Welcome to BYC!

Always a great day when it involves picking up new chicks!! As they grow in the next few weeks, they will lose all that downy fuzz and grow their feathers. Take about 5 full weeks to get them all in. Here is a good thread on raising your new chicks for the first 2 months....

Enjoy your new babies and welcome to our flock!

Great link from TwoCrows - welcome to BYC and to poultry keeping.

They're here! Scratching the ground, getting pine shavings everywhere, eating, cuddling, sleeping for 30 seconds at a time, getting on each other's nerve. Loving it :]

It always depends on your climate. If you live in a warm locale, they could go out for short playtimes even before they are fully feathered. If you live in cool to cold climates you would want to wait till they are fully feathered out or have a heat lamp in the coop until temps. moderate outdoors.
