Hi All! My name is Lindsay and I live in beautiful Colorado! I went out and started a new journey with chickens and am pretty excited about it. A week ago I went and purchased chicks and am planning on getting one more this week! I am new to chickens and raising them but am excited to learn and have fresh eggs.

I've got four and by the end of the week I'll have five chicks.

There are three White Orpingtons and one Light Brahama. I am going to get a Buff Orpington this week.

Facebook is how I found out about this website after my girlfriend posted a farm pic to my page.

Some of my other hobbies are traveling, anything outdoors, family, cooking, painting and gardening during the spring/summer!
My husband and I have two beautiful girls that are 3 almost four and two. We've got two dogs and a fish along with our chickens. My husband and I met eight years ago while working together in retail and now we are both Realtors in Colorado!

Hello and welcome to BYC. Congrats on your new flock. I'd suggest reading up on integrating new members to a flock before you purchase your lone addition.

Here’s a link to the Articles section - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/ There you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs.

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - Find Your State Thread

Best wishes
