She laid an egg 2 days ago but she isn't laying anymore. I think I read somewhere that it happens when a hen is moved from one place to another?

This was the egg she laid. egg1.png
It seemed like she was upset earlier, making drawn out noises while her rear end contracted but with no egg. I checked to see if she was egg bound but couldn't feel anything.

How long will it be before I receive another egg from her? And why was she acting like she was going to lay an egg?

She could be stressed in some way. How long have you had her? Did something in the coop change?

Nothing changed at all. I put hay in there and she built her own nest. She's separated from my flock as a precaution for now, and I've had her for less than a week.

I wouldn't be worried. The egg she layed was probably on the way when you brought her home, and it had to go somewhere!
In terms of health, does she seem healthy? Alert, and bright eyed?

She's alert and gets up just to look at the muscovy ducks walking around. I've found she likes to roam and is quite vocal. Nothing unusual has been found at this point in time.

In this case, I wouldn't be worried. She is probably just stressed from the move. If she doesn't start laying, I would continue to check her for egg binding. :) I wouldn't worry too much about it though!

Bumping this thread up because she finally laid an egg today! She laid one on Sunday and today's Tuesday so it's been 2 days~

I've been making sure she's comfortable and giving her worms/grubs and lots of treats + oyster shells. She's alone for now so I think that was offputting but she's faring very well. c:

My other girl, Phoebe (Buff Orp) is apparently close to laying as well. I can fit two fingers comfortably between her pelvic bone.
