Hi Everyone! Just wanted to officially introduce myself before I start posting. My name is Melissa, and my husband, Derek, and I started Mucky Meadow Farm two years ago in Maine. We currently have 19 laying chickens (mixed breeds), 4 roosters, 4 Pekin ducks, and 3 Mallard ducks. Most of them we brooded/hatched ourselves, what fun! Looking forward to posting and meeting everyone!

Welcome to BYC from Wisconsin. What part of Maine? I have heard there are 2 parts of Maine. American and Canadian.... meaning that parts or Maine are closer culturaly to Canada. Is this true.

Thank you! @Kernel Cluck , we live in Mid-Coast Maine. Anyone who isn't from here, likes to refer to us as living in Canada, but there definitely is a division between the "American" and "Canadian" parts of Maine. We are still in the American part, but I think anything an hour north of us would be considered Canadian. I hope to someday move up there in the boondocks.
