I will be getting two La Manchas goat s this weekend. These Kids will be 3 months old on Sat. We have put up a 24x 24 ft. pipe corral with chain link attached to it. It is 6 ft. tall . We have a cover over it covering half of the area. We will be buildiing a dog house type shelter for them. My question is, the ground in the corral is just dirt, should I cover it with hay or blocks, or just leave it dirt? Is one way easier to keep clean? One more question, What have you found to be the best way to hold their food and water? I would love to get one of those large wooden cable spools, anyone know where they sell them?

Hi there, Congratz on getting goats you will love them

If i was you i would leave it dirt since their poop is pellets it won't need much cleaning up but hay just makes a mess and blocks would be bad in case they had diarrea. For food i use the black feed tray things that TSC sells and for water the big black water buckets used for horses. For the cable spools i have no idea i have yet to find me one

Check with local cable or phone, electric companies for the spools. They will give them to you sometimes. I have 2 and they have a plank made of 2x4s joining them together and the goats love them.
