New goose pictures from July 2012

How old are the Toulouse? They seem so young, but are fully feathered?

My two buff Toulouse girls are 13 weeks old yesterday. I would love to get my hands on some of your Sebastopols though!

aoxa, the grey toulouse was an April hatch (just pulled hatch records to check this to answer you) so he is 4 months old now. Our buff Dewlaps are much younger, but really putting on weight now.

Thank you about the curlies, love them to bits

How would you compare the Sebastopol to the Toulouse in terms of temperament? I am in love with the personalities of our two, and if I was to get another breed, I would like for them to be just as docile and calm.

Here are my two 13 week old girls this morning. Not sure if you know of Jamie Carson, but they were bred from his award winning greys, with a buff gander. So they are sex linked in that respect. They even get along great with my little 5 week old call ducks. They were swimming in the same pool this morning :love How sweet is that? I wish ducks were as clean as geese!

I think the dewlaps and sebbies are very similar in personalities. The dewlaps may be just a touch calmer, but they are both sweet calm birds. Not very loud either which is nice. They grey production pair we have arent as calm, but close and they all free range fine together out of breeding season, and with the ducks and chickens too.

Nice to hear :)

My girls are only loud when I talk to them. I'll call "Chick chick chick chickadee dee dee" and they honk. They grew up with chickens from day 1, so when I talked to them, I talked to all of them :p

When do they grow out of the nibbling phase? Any time I am not paying direct attention to them, they are munching on my back fat! :gig
