(1) We’ve had chickens for a couple years, but i’m more of a goose fancier. Just got 7 goslings as a present from my wife and i adore them.

(2) We had 50 free range & 9 bantams in a coop, but after we got rid of one of our dogs, that apparently sent up the “soup’s on” signal and the predators wiped most of them out. Neighbor’s dogs, feral dogs, hawks, and vultures descended en masse. I never realized vultures were predators, by the way - thought that was a Looney Tunes gag. We now have only 4 surviving roosters and my wife spent the past couple months hatching dozens of new (hopefully) hens.

(3) As far as i know, we have a smattering of all sorts of chicks. Even a Naked Neck, despite my wife specifically requesting “No Naked Necks!” As for the goslings, we have 3 Pilgrims, 3 Embdens & 1 Tufted Buff, and my wife treated herself to 4 Sebastopol eggs for Mother’s Day (beats the heck out of the book, candy & cake i got her!).

(4) Have to admit, i mainly see chickens as A) good sources of eggs, B) excellent tick disposal units, and C) potential sources of meat. Geese however? I love how much personality they have, how brave & intelligent they are, and look forward to them helping keep our lawns trimmed...

(5) Reading, hiking, biking (cycling), kayaking, etc.

(6) I have a wife & 3 kids, 3 cats, 2 dogs (we got the second one back), work in sales & hospitality, and have done everything from teaching college classes to driving moving trucks cross country to reception work.

(7) Bonus: My wife found the site and recommended it to me, and anytime i looked up details about geese BYC came up!
