After a mix up at Cackle Hatchery, I bought ten Barred Rock hens and they threw in a BR rooster on August 12, so they are now a month old and growing fast.
I thought I was getting Buff Orphingtons, but they didn't have any available. The Barred Rocks seemed like a reasonable alternative.
My son bought some Tractor Supply chicks in March for his first birds and we are enjoying eggs now. He got six sex linked and six white hybrids, three California Tans and three California Whites. Two of the California Tans turned out to be roosters.
My son has all the chickens at his house for now. That may continue. I spend too much time away from home currently.
