Hey folks.
Broome County NY, raising our small flock, 15 mixed hens and 5 roosters. Not sure of all the mixes but would guess Reds and comets originally.
Got some eggs from a friend that turned out to be a single Polish hen, a single banty rooster and a turken, ( Transylvanian Naked Necks) rooster and hen.
Looking to keep everybody healthy as most of our eggs are given away. Too many for just us.
Lots of ideas that I'm guessing have been answered or experimented with re: best practice manure/ garden ideas, meat bird planning and when is "enough, enough".
As "transplants" from NYC we're thankful for all the work that everyone else has already done.
Looking forward to spring and letting the girls fend for themselves.

There is no such thing as enough is enough. Chickens are like ice cream...there's always room for more!

Welcome from Nevada!

Can't help with local info for you and I am the worst person to ask when enough is enough. I have 31 hens and 2 roosters right now and 40+ eggs in the bator. And I'm on a city lot! I have very understanding neighbors that I bribe with fresh eggs.
