Hey! I am the new guy from Vermont. I have actually been raising backyard chickens and turkeys for about 30 years (I am an old guy as well as a new guy). Recently we started attempting to hatch eggs, having acquired an old (50 years?) reconditioned incubator from a neighbor. That is why I joined the forum, to find out more about how to make this hatching thing work successfully.

We have learned how to help our chickens and turkeys survive foxes, raccoons, hawks, eagles, dogs--everything but weasels. We don't know how to keep the weasels out.

I have a wife who is, like Mary Poppins, "Practically perfect in every way."

I have three sons, one who is a wildlife photographer, one who is in law school and one who just finished undergraduate school and has started working in the social work field.

I have a little black dog named Zip, and two cats named Milo and Bajera.

Here is a quote I find helpful at least once every day:

"The difference between real life and fiction is that fiction has to make sense."

Glad to be on board!

I know there is a lot of useful info in the hatching section and also, the search function has worked wonders for me in the past. Good luck!!
Love your daily quote!!!
