New Hampshire hens or Delaware hens

Hello, I am planning on getting some chicks in the next couple of weeks and am trying to decide between New Hampshire Hens or Delaware Hens. The other breeds of chickens I am planning on getting are Buff Orpington, and Brahmas. Just wanted to see if anyone had these breeds and liked one better than the other. All the chicks will be hens. They are going to be used for their eggs. Thank you!

I have had Delaware hens, and I was pleased with them. For a dual purpose bird, they had a better carcass and were good egg layers. Sometimes they can be tricky to get.

I just responded to another of your posts, but thought I should mention here that my (accidental) Delaware is a total sweetheart. Honeysuckle is gentle and mostly calm, although she's a bit on the adventurous side (she was the first one that I saw of our flock to spend time on the swing, even though the picture of the group I'm attaching shows Caramel on the swing.) I'm not sure why, but all of my girls are kinda slow in maturing as none of them are laying yet despite my having bought them clear back at the end of August/beginning of September. Since you mentioned that you are getting yours for eggs, I hope you don't have to wait so long.
