Knowing PB as I do, ( I was his mother hen for a few days before Chris decided to be the daddy pigeon)
it isnt a far streatch, you hand feed, wipe their little beaks abd butts., wipe up the slobber and drool. and then give them a snuggle.
trust me everything involved with hand raising a baby pigeon can be just as motherly/fatherly as having a Human Child LOL.

Oh Chris BTW I am hand feeding 4 right now, the mothers were offed by something, 2 are no bigger than PB when you adopted him and the other 2 are getting ready to switch over to seed and hand feeding.
sigh the life of a mother pigeon is never dull or done.

). Spike, the father, is showing no interest in the clutch. Jelly's leg band is still falling off, and PB, has much growing to go, before he's banded. LOL He's growing fast, but not fast enough...

Jelly is now eating out of your hand, and will fly over to you for hugs.

Awww thats so sweet, you have to lve it when they come over for snuggles, its just so cute.
had anyone told me years ago pigeons could be affectionate I would have looked at them like they had 3 heads.
the wild ones tend to leave a wrong impression on ones who were domesticated.( reads hand raised).
