New Hampshire reds

The hens can getting overly stressed form too much mating.
They get bare backs menaing no feathers and lots of The time get sores on necks, backs, and heads.Yoong boys often gang up and can kill a single pullet,it happens sometimes.

What does it mean they can be overbread?
Even one hormonal cockerel can be too much for 14 pullets, resulting in favorites with bald heads and bare backs. Not to mention males mature more quickly and at times try to breed pullets that are not ready.

With 4 cockerels competing with each other you will very likely have pullets that are unable to eat or drink let alone dustbathe without being chased. They will be harassed endlessly by single males or gang bred by all 4 at once.

If you have chickens just for eggs then get rid of all the cockerels. If you can't part with them keep them in a separate bachelor pad.
