That’s what I was thinking. Pictures online of New Hampshire chicks look different. It’s not unusual for the coloring to change as they grow and New Hampshire Chickens do have white tips. Maybe I just need to wait, just wasn’t what I was expecting
Amberlink. 95% sure that’s what they are. Just following up in case anyone cares. My wife went to the hatchery website that TSC buys from and they look identical to what’s on the site.
From what I am reading here, mislabeled chicks are a common theme at TSC. I am not really upset about it though. I just needed something that lays a good amount of eggs. I only bought them because their was one lone sickly silkie in the bantam brooder with a severely pasted butt and they don’t sell just one chick....
I was totally wrong. They are New Hampshire. I went to Korea for work over the past month when I returned home I have a 1/2 dozen red birds with black tipped tail feathers. Live and Learn. I am correcting myself so I don’t confuse anyone out there.
In my opinion seeing that they came from TSC this don't surprise me . They deal with Hoovers they do not breed to APA standard of perfection making it hard yo distinguish one chick from another, all the New Hampshire chicks I have seen are a light red . That is one of my favorite breeds . I am not saying you have bad chickens . I have some from TSC and they lay great but I would not breed them because it's like a box of chocolates you never know what you are going to get . It's all about what you are looking for in a chicken . With the red brooder light in the background of your photo it could be playing tricks on our eyes ,making the chick look a lighter shade . Just for future reference you might try putting the chick on a piece of printer paper to show the color better . How cute it is !
