New Hampshires-Are They Broody?

It is very true that natural broodiness has been bred out of today's modern chicken in favor of egg production. That's one reason I prefer to get my birds from breeders rather than hatcheries now, if I can.

I remember as a child my neighbor's Leghorns would start setting. He raised all of his replacements with a broody hen "Yes, Leghorn! I would help him get the eggs but would not bother those setters, I would let him get pecked, LOL

Yes that has been about 35 years ago. He would get mad if too many were trying to set. A friend who raises games doesnt have no trouble being broody as they all run out all the time.
