Hopefully you can see this little guy's legs. The right leg he keeps straight but it is turned inward, and his left leg is pulled up toward his chest. I tried a splint and was able to get his right leg semi-straight but the left leg seems to pull the right up too hard so now with the splint he just falls over. Ive given him some drops of poultry french and he drinks fine. I'm going to try a towel for him to get a better grip on the ground, but wondering if anyone has any advice? brinsea incubator and first time hatch for me. All was normal until first chick hatched and the humidity shot up to 75% for about a day. No other chicks have problems ... about 12 of those. i bought the eggs from a NPIA breeder online. thats all i can offer.

if you think this is a no-hope situation, advice on culling is much appreciated. I am new to all this. thank you in advance.

Can’t find how to fix a slipped tendon … or know whether that’s what I have. Could you guide me there?

But I did find more guidance on splints. I was able to straighten without force using a vet wrap and foam mix. Put it on him for the night … see how he does tomorrow. Note the toes curling up on his right.

He certainly can’t stand with this. But he can’t stand at all in his natural condition. otherwise he is completely normal, will drink. Just born today and not interested in food. Hoping tomorrow it’s a tad better!

I actually have a chicken that’s leg is like that. But the reason why is because her leg got stuck on the incubator and messed up her tendon. If you go to a doctor they’ll tell you that it can be fixed with a splint and just to exercise that leg every day. Since he is still young the damaged can be fixed fairly quickly.

How did your chick do in treatment?
So she did fairly well. Until she got hurt by the other chickens, then we needed to stop the treatment and focus on letting her heal. Which is how we have Peggy hobbling around the house. We went to a doctor to see what we could do at this point and they said she would need surgery. But she isn’t in any pain so.
