We just had a new baby duck hatch. The other duck didn't have anything near its vent area. Little thing is still in the incubator. I have attached pictures and have the area in question circled in RED. We don't want to mess with the little thing right now. Anyone know if this is a concern? Still has the gunk attached as well.

Looks like it didn’t absorb all the yolk. I’d place it in a small bowl lined with a clean dry wash cloth and give it time to absorb. This keeps it from catching it on something or the others from messing with it. Congrats!

Thank you. Little thing is by itself so we could probably just let her hang out. Little thing is resting now.

Just put the little thing in a little Tupperware container with a super soft clean dish rag. Anyone know how long it will take for her to absorb the yolk? The other funky stuff finally came off. Should it stay in the incubator until we see no evidence of that item circled in RED on my original picture? Our little drake was dry in around 24hrs and we moved him to the brooder about 3am this morning.

If everything goes well, maybe only a few hours to a few days.

If need be can we keep her / him in the incubator for a few days? I assume in that time they would need food and water?
You can, and yes you can provide them some if you choose to go for a few days.
