Hi everyone. My name is Danielle and I have just hatched my first chicks.Ive had chickens in the past but this is my first time hatching. Very exciting!!! I am unsure of the orgin of the parents. The lady who sold me the birds did not know as she had a large mixed flock. Hoping someone can give me some insight. I have 2 light colored speckled girls. 2 with a brownish head and a grey body. My other girls are Rhode island Reds and Barred Rock.I didnt include pics because, well I have had them in the past. I also put pic of my rooster and chicks. Also hatched this all black chick black beak and feet??? Where did he/she come from??? Please advise. Thank y'all.

Congratulations!

All of the parents look like mixes. And without narrowing their potential heritage down a bit, they could be anything. Which explains all the different colours of chicks, there could be throwbacks too, certain traits you don’t see in the parents but they pop up in the chicks.

Saying that... the two hens stood together could be Brahma mixes. I don’t have a clue on the others. Maybe other users will though!
