Last night Charlotte did not run out from the heat plate like everyone else when I was checking them at bedtime. She is very tiny. She has been out running around though. I put her by the water and feed as everyone was going at it. She looked at it and then ran back under the heat. I got her out and checked her out and she feel right to sleep in my hand. Little tiny bit wobbly. I gave her a drop of nutri drench and some water. I checked her in the middle of the night, same. She does have some engery as she will go at a good clip to get back under the heat. No interest in feed, she will peck at the nipple waterer though. So I made some egg gruel with hardboiled egg and water, gave a tiny bit more nutri drench. Did the same thing this morning. When I put her in a tub on her own to go get the egg and came back she was slowly walking around, so its not like she just floppys over, but I am worried she will go down hill more and I will loose her if I dont do the right things.

So I have the nutri drench, how often can I give her a tiny drop?
The egg gruel she ate about 1 1/2 ml so far this morning. How much per feeding and how often? Dont want to over welm her.
I put the syringe at the tip of her beak with a drop at the end and she will open her eyes and take it.

Is there something else I should give her? Sugar water instead of just plain water? Any other food? My organic chick starter is seed and such and does breakdown if I soak it. Should I put it through the food processor and make a gruel of it to?

This is Charlotte

I'm not exactly sure what nutri drench is as I have never used it before. However, I use vitamins that come in powder form that you put into their water. This can be found usually at the local feed store. Hope she gets better :)

Bump, help anyone? Is yogurt a good help, oatmeal? I've heard different things. With this last feeding poo was no longer clear to white but normal looking. I assume that means I am getting enough egg gruel in her? How long can she go in just that? Soaked the feed and am also giving her "feed broth"

You need to be feeding them a crumble. The nutri drench can be added to the water. Check the temp in the brooder and watch for pasty butt. The symptoms of listlessness fits with a few things but I would be watching for any signs in the hatch mates as if this is cocci it is highly contagious .

No pasty butt, I have a brinsea brooder, everyone is warm. They are eating a chick starter and everyone is eating but her

It is very fine, some small seeds, everyone else has been eating and how! And everyone else (20 other chicks) are growing, peeping, playing chase etc. I am using the nipple waterers, so water is clean, and I have checked the bedding is dry. No blood in her poo. I am using the brinsea brooder plate, so it is passive heat. Everyone goes in an out of it as they want and everyone seems warm enough, they arent huddling except at bed time to sleep they will pack under there and then come out to. I will find them asleep in the middle of the brooder away from it to, or on it. The room is warm, no AC, (non in house anyway) But its not overly warm in there either. She is alert when she is awake, she moves well, just wont eat, but the syringe I have is big enough to put her beak in it, when I do, she starts drinking the gruel immediately. I would say she is not going further down hill at all and maybe is a bit better. What else can I feed her?

Sounds like you are doing everything required. If this little one is just off to a ' slow start ' I would feed it a soft scrambled egg mixed with a teaspoon of Greek yoghurt ( probiotics ). You might need to add a shallow water dish to the brooder just in case this little one is not grasping the concept of nipple waterer's
I keep a product called poly aid plus for any problem chicks. Make it up into a slurry and feed by syringe. This stuff is better than any sugar water.

Charlotte is holding her own and doing better. Added a bit of greek yogurt to the egg gruel I made and just kept up with feeding every few hours. Ground the chick starter even finer and last night she pecked at it a bit. This morning I added a bit of egg on top of the feed and added a friend to get her going, my black silkie bantam, who is bigger than she is! But she ate well and again this afternoon. Add ACV to everyones water to. Thanks for the help everyone, I think she will do okay if I just keep at it. Right now she decided to come out from under the heat plate when I went in just like everyone else, she hasnt done that for three days. And she headed to the feed dish. She gets bumped around alot as she is so little. She is no bigger than she was a 1 day old. So I think she will be getting a private table everyday for awhile, til I see she can push back with success.
