New help with 6 day old chick!

Charlotte is still hanging in there, but I would say is still not gaining weight, sleeps alot. Last night was back to having no interest in pecking for food. I can see that the bigger chicks are beginning to eye her and they were starting to peck at her. So this morning I set up a small brooder in a tub with a heat pad and bedding on the heat pad. I am monitoring the temp. I have it on the first setting and under her it is about 95.5 to 96.8 I put a little box with a cut out in it over her to retain in the heat and put in a little beanie baby which she immediately cuddled up to. Will still plan on feeding every 4 hours or so, liquified hard boiled egg, greek yogurt and the nurti drench drops. I called the lab that makes nutri drench this morning. I read everywhere to give one drop to each chick as soon as you get them for a boost for the shipping stress, but from there I only see adding it to water. She said I can give her a drop straight into the mouth three times a day with out diluting it. It goes right into the blood system that way rather than the digestive system and is faster and a stronger boost. Thought others might like that info. How long can she go like this on the egg, yogurt vitamins and a broth from the starter seed? Its been 3 days now. Not growing, but wing feathers are coming in well. Poo varies from white to normal depending on how much she has eaten.

Your doing a great job. If she likes the yoghurt , put a little dollop on top of the chick starter to entice her to eat it. Egg is high in protein and she needs that for now. A little bit of salmon or tuna may keep her interested in food. At this point hydration is very important. Every hour just give her a little drop or so on the tip of your finger.

Maybe I am giving her to much? About every 3 hours I am giving her about 2 ml of her egg gruel, water and broth. The total of the three is about that. Is that to much to far apart? Her crop gets full and is way down when I feed her again.

They tend to eat small amounts often. So I usually give them small feeds every hour or so. So long as the crop is emptying you are doing fine. In critical times I would say the nutri-drench un diluted is fine but I would be more inclined to add it to the water and dilute it if you are going to be using it for an extended period of time. Ask your pet shop supplies if they have a baby parrot or bird feed formula like the ' poly aid plus ' that I use, it has all the goodies in it. I have literally brought them back from the ' brink ' of death , using this stuff.

Charlotte passed peacefully last night. I do not think she was ever in any pain, just a sleepy tiny baby. This is my last picture of her, she cuddled right up with the bunny when I put it in.

I weighed her yesterday and the plan was to keep a log. This morning when I finally was able to get back and give everyone else sometime I decided to weigh them and see what the difference was. Charlotte weighed .9oz at 8 days old. Everyone else is 2.5 to 2.75oz. Poor baby just didnt process any of that nutrition I dont think
