I went out to let my birds out this morning and found one of my new hens stuck in the water bucket. I dont know if she was there all night or not but she is very stiff and traumatized. I brought her in the house, put her in a tub with towels and put a heat light over her (didnt have a heat bulb so i just used a 60 watt bulb). She shivers and keeps her head tucked. She wont sit down. Just stands crouched in the corner of the 2ftx4ft tub. Her bottom, under her vent/between her legs seems very large and hard. She looks around every so often now that its been several hours inside but she seems to be in shock. (No more buckets of water now obviously) but i dont know if there is anyhing more i can do for her...

I found one of mine in the horse's water last summer soaked completly through and cold. I carefully blow- dried her so as not to overheat her and she survived. I'd keep her warm and dry in a quiet place for a day or two and hopefully she will be fine.

one of my young chickens got very cold in a storm and was stiff, cold and weak. I held him close to me for a long time and kept him warm inside and he got better in a day or two. hope the poor chicken gets better

Hey! She was acting like normal by afternoon. She was ready to get out so I let her out since it was warm out today. She seems to be just normal : ) Close call i am sure...I am gna continue to keep a close eye on her and the other three new hens we got yesterday. We placed our smaller old coop at the back of the pen today and divided the new hens off an end to themselves so they can all get used to eachother safely and more comfortably. Wow...chickens chickens. Never cease to amaze me! : )
