I am so excited to find this site. We moved to our farm last fall and I will be adding a coop and chickens come spring. I live in Ontario, Canada, this will be my first time raising chickens. I am very interested in free ranging them and letting them work the compost from my cows. Also, as it's very cold here in winter, I want to provide them with a well insulated coop. There is a wealth of knowledge and advice here, as I can see. So happy to be a member.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! The learning centre is a great place to start here is the link https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

If you are thinking of free ranging your birds I would just point out to be on guard for potential predators in your area. Once they know there is free meal on offer they don't stop.

Wishing you the very best of luck and be sure to ask any questions you may have, we are all here to help. Enjoy BYC :frow

I'd definitely take a look at the Learning Center that Yorkshire Coop linked to! To find information on coops, check out the Coops section: Coop Designs

We'll be happy to answer any questions you may have!
