Help! I got three "new" hens yesterday; a 5-month old Plymouth Rock, a 12-month old Wyandotte and a 13-month old New Holland Blue. The coop was empty after our Brown Shavers "departed". All 3 took off up the small bushy tree in the Chook Run and I can't get them out. They've been up there all night and all day so far; they won't come down despite all my best efforts. I tried poking them with a blunt stick but they got quite distressed. I've put lots of yummy food out for them but they are glued to the tree. I need them to find the coop so they can roost properly and jump into their nests to lay. Any ideas?

They're not hungry. They won't stay in the tree and starve. Put the feed out and wait um out. When they do come down to eat shut the door.

My girls would go anywhere for dried or fresh mealworms! Whenever I have trouble getting them into their run for the night, I just toss in a handful of mealworms. DH call it "chicken crack."

weird
r u sure they are still alive ?? and if they arent responding to kind treatment just use a blunt stick to physically push them off the branches they are on and they ill fly to the gorund

You could always get a ladder and then get them down by hand (:
