hi, I have read most of the topics on this, but I just got these hens 3 days ago and the lady Igot them from had them in a small enclosure and I don't think she had much enteracting with them, I have only got 4 eggs from them in 3 days (Ihave 6 of them) and I just thought at first it was stressful being moved so it did not concern me until this morning when I went out there and saw the mess (yolk all over one of the nesting boxes) so I ended up staying out there cleaning up and feeding and watering when I looked over and I had 2 hens fighting over something, I went over and there was another egg one of them had hatched and they were trying to get it (luckily it rolled under something) ... what should I do
thanks

Try a search on hens eating eggs. I think there have been lots of posts on this subject.

Unfortunately, you may find that the only cure is the stew pot.

yeah...seems that many people who get new hens of laying age from someone else soon discover that there is a reason the person was getting rid of the hens - and egg eating and vicious pecking are usually high on the list....

Do a search - there are several strategies for dealing with it from as drastic as culling to as simple as separating the culprit.

If you can collect eggs ASAP after being laid, that can help reduce your losses too.

Good luck...you'll need it....
