New hens not really laying

A couple of weeks ago, we got 2 new hens (maybe 3 weeks now?). The person I got them from said that 1 was laying an egg a day and the other an egg every other day. No eggs for the first several days - ok, I expected that - but since then, we've gotten at most 1 egg every 2 or 3 days.

So, what is wrong?

Did this "person" light them and you do not light?

I don't know - I didn't notice a light in their coop. But we're in the deep south and get a decent amount of light, even in winter. All of my other girls are still laying great.

When I've gotten new adults it's took them up to a month to start laying regularly again, even in springtime.

Chickens are definitely not much for change, chances are it will be a while before they regain laying the way they were, they just went through a giant change in their little chicken world, rehoming a chicken can and will upset the laying balance.
