New Hens to be added to existing flock

I know alot of people asked this before. How do you go about adding New Hens to existing flock? I have 2 new Hens and I tryed adding them and the existing flock about killed them. I put them in a small cage to protect them but how long before I can let them out without them killing them?Any help would be great. I have a small flock .

Best way to introduce birds is to use a barrier that they can see thru but not go thru. Even a cage or just chicken wire box. Let them see each other for around a week minimum before letting them mingle. Adding birds at night while roosted seems to cause less fuss, apparently chickens attention span isn't that great and they are not sure if those birds were or were not there yesterday. When letting birds mingle for the 1st time spend some time with the flock to make sure nobody is excessively harassed.
