Hi all, I only been keeping chickens since 22nd April, The local pet shop had a load of chicks in and my son wanted one,we got two and they turned out to be Rhode Island Reds, Unfortunatly one chick died and we ended up buying another three from another pet shop. Problem is we havent got a clue what breed or sex they are, Well untill the other day when the one started Cock-a-doodle-dooing lol.
Here are some pics if any one can help us name the breed or sex plz.

1st pic should be an Rhode Island red Hen (pic 1)

Thanks for the help guys, This has helped me alot now I know what ive got..

Is it unadvisable to keep 2 roosters together?? Im guessing they are gonna start fighting as they get older.

They were bought together and all the same age.

Hrm, normally I'd say 'heck no', but if your two roos were raised together, and one of them clearly is a submissive, they may get along ok. It's when you mix two dominants, or roosters that don't know each other that you get fighting.

I would caution you though, against having so many roosters for so many hens. 3 hens would probably not be enough for one rooster. You'd end up with hens missing feathers, and maybe parts of their combs from too many matings.

Hope that helps a bit!

oh, and what you're experiencing is called "chicken math" where you lose one, so you replace it with 3. Now, if you are a true chicken addict, you would go get a dozen hens so that you have the right number of hens for your roosters

I'd love to get a load more but I haven't got the room for them, unfortunately the two Roos will have togoto a new home
