New here and new to chickens

Hello everybody!
We are new to raising and keeping backyard chickens. We are finally in an area (North Central Iowa) were we are allowed to and have the room for it
Currently we are building our coop and our baby chicks will / should arrive on April 5th. We are all so excited!
We are, me Sandra, my husband and 2 kids (11 and 3). We also have 2 indoor cats, 2 dogs. And we just noticed that a farm cat also moved in
I am very thankful to have found this site so I can read up on and get as many information as possible.
I'm looking forward to network
